Meet the Author
Lee Risdale is a qualified Music Lecturer, a Musician, an Artist, and an Author of Fiction and Non-Fiction. He began working at the University of Bath, which is the setting of this book, as a Voice Teacher while studying for a master’s degree in Voice Pedagogy, the science and art of singing. His study of voice science and human development (The Complete Vocalist, 2017) alongside a deep passion for storytelling with a twist (Twisty Tales, 2021), inspired him to write this book.
Lee works in creative fields, exploring the arts as a Musician, Artist and Writer while encouraging others to do the same as a teacher. He actively works to inspire others to succeed in their artistic endeavors and has authored a further book, Creativity & You (2025) with tools for creatives, designed to spark a creativity revolution.
Vision
Awaking Angels is a suspenseful thriller exploring and integrating the worlds of science and spirituality with unexpected twists. It stokes curiosity and imagination, exploring a modern world which attempts to evolve at an increasing pace and is forced to encounter the deeper mysteries of good and evil. It highlights our human conflict of integrating increasing technology with human values and attempts to bridge the secular scientific and supernatural spiritual worlds. Some of the greatest minds in history, including Einstein and Newton, believed in divine power, and in recent years science has begun to reconcile mysteries described in historical texts. Mathematicians say they are not doing mathematics but instead are… discovering it. This book beckons curiosity and offers a twist with the emergence of Occult science, and the supernatural, outlining the spiritual hierarchies and the material world. This story invites the reader to release the shackles of mediocrity and suppression of the human spirit, opening minds to the potential of creativity, and the sovereignty of the human soul against a shadow of rising technology, raising serious questions and a light of hope for the soul of collective humanity.
Mission
This book seeks to fulfil the need for hope, truth and justice in a world struggling with hopelessness, technocracy and corruption. It highlights the power of friendship and companionship, the hero’s journey against all odds and that perhaps ultimately that the universe really has your back. The plot twists tug between mysteries of the harmony between science and the supernatural, and the haunting Awaking Angels theme music is composed and performed by the author, beckoning cinematic screenplay potential.
Goal
Awaking Angels tells a story that confronts many of the aspects and challenges that face us in our world today. The narrative explores questions of our fast-changing landscape of science and technology, mental health, the rise of artificial intelligence, truth-seeking and suppression, and our search to understand human consciousness. The adventures of Leo, Michael, and Emily highlight our conflict and desire to reconcile between a secular humanist world that seeks safety and certainty in scientific innovation, and a spiritual world that inspires hope, faith, and creativity.
